nativity! the musical

It's time to sparkle and shine as the feel good musical of the year is in town.  The story is the same as the first movie in the now 4 film franchise and sees the children of St Bernadette's stage their Christmas nativity under the false promise that Hollywood are coming to watch.  The lie soon unravels but in the end everything works out and the grandest school nativity in history is staged right in front of the audiences eyes.

The story tells how the school is craving for a 5 star review from the local paper, in this case 5 stars isn't enough, it really is the best show I've seen all year!

The children are of course the stars of the show, and so incredibly talented, however Simon Lipkin really does steal the show with his performance as Mr Poppy.  He is hilarious and caring at the same time and has the audience literally howling with laughter.  It is clear he has a brilliant working relationship with the children on stage and is a real star.  Another stand out is Scott Garnham as Mr Maddens.  The audience really feel for this character as his story unfolds and you can see he is just a typical stressed out, overworked teacher who also has problems with his personal  life.  His comedy alongside Simon is perfect, they make a great double act, and his battles with Mr Shakespeare add a nice touch of malice to the character.

I expected this show to be a bit on a budget, with such a limited touring period, however I was proved very wrong.  The set was very elaborate, the production values incredibly high and everything from the band to the flying stars was top notch.

I want to see this show over and over again, it is a true feel good show suitable for the whole family.  you will be watching the stars of the future with the astonishing talent from the children as well as having the time of your life.  They have more than earned back the -2 star review from the start of the show, 5 stars just isn't enough for this.  10 STARS!!
