Kinky Boots

Its time to strut your stuff down to the Regent Theatre as Kinky Boots brings the years bigget party to town!  Its got more sequins than strictly, more boot than a branch of Clarks and enough feel good factor to last you all year, you are guaranteed to have a brilliant time!

Kinky Boots is based on a true story about a factory in Northampton, although the Price & Son factory in the show is fictional, that is going to go under if they don't do something drastic.  The son doesn't know what to do until he has a chance meeting with Lola, or should that be Simon, and the idea for Kinky Boots is born.

With a soundtrack written by Cyndi Lauper you know you will be dancing the night away, and you wont be disappointed!  Cyndi has got the balance perfect between toe tapping dance numbers and slower more sombre pieces to capture the true emotions of the story.  The clever staging by director Jerry Mitchell combines with the music to create a true spectacle.  The finale of the first half 'Say Yeah' is such a feast for the eyes you just don't know where to look!  The music, the dancing, the staging, all combine to make the best show you can see!

The large orchestra are also a highlight of this show, allowing the music to really shine through to its full potential.

Kayi Ushe plays the role of Lola and is simply outstanding.  I would say he is one of the bet actors I have ever seen.  Until you see him in a suit without the wig later in the show it is hard to believe he isn't actually a woman!  Other fantastic performances are given by Joel Harper-Jackson, who plays Charlie, and Demitri Lampra, who plays Don.  Both allow the audience to really connect with their characters through a mixture of comedy, singing and emotion.

The show finishes with the coveted Milan fashion show and there are lots of surprises along the way.  If you only see 1 theatre show this year, it must be this one!  It has everything, I will definitely be going again before it struts its way to the next theatre!
